Trail funding requests
The following is a list of Trails KC projects being considered for funding in the City's 2010-2011 budget.
- Connecting the Trolley Track and Indian Creek Trails in southern Kansas City
- Extending the Line Creek Trail in Platte County
- Constructing the Hodge-Smithville Trail's first segment in Clay County
- Designing the Van Brunt Trail on the East Side
- Building the Three Trails Corridor Trail along Bannister Road
Send a brief note in support of trail funding (KCMO mailing address required)
or learn more about the projects listed above.
If you wrote a letter in November 2009 there is no need to write again, but please forward this to your friends. Many 4th District residents have already written letters, so we really need support form the rest of the city - Northland, South of 85th, East of Troost, and Downtown.
These requests will be evaluated by PIAC, the Public Improvements Advisory Committee. PIAC is a citizens committee that advises the City Council on how to spend the half-cent sales tax for capital improvements.
Previously, PIAC and the City Council funded $1.5 million in trail projects for the 2009-2010 budget year.
- Line Creek Trail - $575,000 for construction (2nd District)
- Trolley Track to Indian Creek Trail Connection - $250,000 for design and engineering (4th, 5th and 6th Districts)
- Little Blue Trace Trail - $500,000 for design and construction (5th District)
- Katy Trail Corridor - $10,000 for corridor appraisal (5th District)
- Blue River Trail - $198,000 for land acquisition and trail construction (6th District)
